BONE & BUSK by KATRINA MIOR
“Ceremony” will focus on how societal pressure and religion have informed how clothing is worn both for formal and informal purposes: from strict mourning attire to modern day secularism, everything we wear is symbolic. Focusing on the loaded history of the corset, our line recontextualizes historical influences blended with modern subculture. Traveling through the ages, “Ceremony” infuses 18th century decadence, the arrival of the puritans, the Victorians, and touches on the designer’s own experiences working and living across the world.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Bone & Busk began in 2006 as an independent one-woman corsetry and couturier and has grown into a boutique ready to wear collection line. Its founder, Katrina Mior continues to remain loyal to her corsetry roots, creating everything from high end bridal, to medical support for back injury. Her ready to wear clothing focuses on a corseted silhouette and is manufactured in Toronto. She has taught corsetry overseas in the UK and lectures in Canada.
