STEVIE CROWNE: RIDE OR DIE
Fashion elements included in the SS17 Collection, “Ride Or Die,” will be a continuation of my already trademarked dyed and distressed denim pieces, bleach washed/acid wash garments, reworked jackets featuring custom patchwork, and oversized t shirts with recycled fur/leather/denim cutouts. This collection is inspired by current social themes, edgy concepts and bold aesthetic visuals which are meant to bring awareness to current global movements. In collaboration with local artists, we are producing one of a kind patches which will be a staple trend and recurrence in my designs.
The entire purpose of the collection is to pay homage to prominant vintage styles, while at the same time customizing the garment so it matches Spring-Summer 2017 trends. The line promotes the evolution of fashion and where it used to be, where the true underground fashion movement is now, and where it is potentially going in regards to what methods designers use to keep their brands sustainable.
Canadian Fashion Designer Stevie Crowne, 22, designs his collections recycling top quality vintage and thrift styles. Deemed an Eco-Friendly label creating 2+ collections per year since 2011, he upcycles his findings into newer and more edgy-contemporary fashion garments. Sold in stores across Canada featuring special capsule collections, this SS17 season will mark the first runway show in three years!
Beginning the process with each piece, it typically starts off by basic pattern grading to suit in trend styles and 2017/2018 silhouettes. Further in the process, each garment goes through a complete 180° transformation using methods such as fabric dying, hardware embellishment, hemming, fabric-detailing, patchwork, embossing, other alterations, as well as collaborating with visual artists to produce limited edition prints and one-off bespoke creations.
