VACUO AMOUR 2018
Vacuo Amour is a ongoing project that started in 2018 and explores analogue collages of already-made fashion imagery. These collages challenge the way a viewer might take for granted what they perceive in a photographed image, creating blurry non-subjects that are hard to identify. Vacuo Amour is an obscure representation which feels oddly familiar but insurmountably other. Can we still connect to these images?
Franco Berti is a multimedia artist born in Italy. He studied both at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice and the Instituto d’Arte Michele Fanoli in Padua. Franco’s work focuses on the process rather than the result while challenging the boundaries within the fields of art to bring to focus to how we make and affect culture and identity. After immigrating to Canada in 2008, Franco became very interested in issues regarding transience, nomadic cultures, identification, symbology, history, and myth. He continues to work within these themes as an immigrant in a foreign land and expands on these through his various travels and experiences.
