“My work finds balance in the imbalance. I see colours and shapes everywhere I look. Nothing is static. Movements, beyond wordly dimensions and create avant-garde art pieces. What my work may lack in perfection, at times it will find in meaning.”
Director and Screenwriter Lawrence has a bachelor in film production from Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. Flirting at first with the experimental and fiction genres, the filmmaker has grown into a singular artistic signature since the end of his studies. His most recent work was seen at the Rendez-Vous Québec Cinéma, Printemps Numérique, Festival Image et Nation, Festival du Film de Rimouski and at the Out Takes Film Festival in New Zealand. Lawrence’s work is highly influenced by Todd Haynes, David Lynch
and the Cohen brothers. His projects focus on human isolation, inequalities within contemporary societies as well as themes on spirituality and invisibility. Being part of the LGBTQA+ community, the director has chosen to integrate this facet of his life within his films. In the last two years, Lawrence Dupuis has greatly evolved the authenticity of his visual treatment with experimentations and re-exploring technical aptitudes from his experimental background.
