RISHE – BY PADINA BONDAR
This collection has been designed and redesigned for over a decade. The pieces are inspired by the history, craftsmanship, and beauty of Persian culture that can be summed up in iconic architectural sites in Iran. Due to recent political feuds, now seems to be a better time than ever to bring these ideas to life and counteract current events with art, passion and collaboration. This collection is sustainably made, and ethically produced. Dedicated to the innocent lives lost in pursuit of ego and false narratives.
Waist deep in recycling bins, felted human hair, hundreds of pounds of reclaimed fabrics, wires, anatomy books, dumpster diving, blood, sweat and tears- a typical sight in my studio. From Toronto to Tehran, London to Moscow; my work allows me to innovate, travel, and move audiences to tears. I use fashion as a platform to challenge injustice though couture collections and campaigns. My work revolves around sustainability, ethics, inclusivity and intersectionality. I crave innovation that goes beyond the design and construction of my pieces and aspire to make my mark through what my pieces are made of. I design, cut and sew to defy social norms and express marginalized narratives while embracing the art of couture and craftsmanship.
