LA FEMME THEBERGE: ANDROGYNOUS STRUCTURE 2016

La Femme Theberge is for those who fight against being labelled and stereotyped in order to be free. It’s for those who live with rebellious hearts and who would choose the adventurous path over the safe one.

The Aesthetic: Dark and beautiful. I am not interested in pretty, I search for true beauty and sometimes that beauty can be found in darkness.

The Collection: Structural shapes and androgenous overtones.

The exploration of contrasts without the limitations of labels or stereotypes. This collection sets the tone for the brand La Femme Theberge and is an exploration into my fascination with the diamond shape both architecturally and symbolically. For me this symbol is a reminder of “focus & balance”. We live in a world that pulls you in every way except inward. The diamond serves us as a shield and an opening to a deeper understanding of ourselves

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

In 2011 , with four years of entrepreneurial experience under my belt and a baby on the way, I moved my family across the country to Toronto, the fashion capital of Canada. In addition to owning a successful bespoke company and being the mother of two boys, I have an intense passion to create couture. With a newborn in hand, 2012 was about research and information. I dived into the fashion industry in Toronto to get as much information as possible. 2013 was about education. I enrolled in fashion studies at George Brown College to further my technical skills. 2014 was about making dreams come true and achieving the confidence needed to chase them. I studied advanced draping at L’ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris. 2015 has been about mastering skills and developing a new brand. This year I was one of five finalists in a National Couture Competition and I had my work exhibited at the Design Exchange Museum in Toronto.

2016 is about putting the plans I’ve laid out before me into action and to see my creations come to life.
