UNCUFFED LEATHER

Outside of seasonal accessories, leather has a bit of a tough reputation. Kinky, dangerous, sexy are only a few of the words that come to mind. Leather Landscapes seeks to reimagine leather, and push it to an elegant place, where the hard and soft work together to create a cohesive and unique wearable installation that brings joy and whimsy to the onlooker.

While it’s exciting to think about all the innovation in textile creation and design, from laser cutters to 3D-printed dies, there’s something inherently magical about turning back the clock and honouring traditional leatherwork and craftsmanship. Through Leather Landscapes, we pay homage to these time-honoured traditions by relying solely on our hands to create, sculpt, dye and finish the untreated leather used in this piece.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Olga Barsky is the creative director of UNCUFFED Leather as well as the sponsorship manager at Toronto power blog Shedoesthecity.com. Having a background in the fine arts and wardrobe styling, Olga is always creating something new to feed her soul, and it often includes glitter.
